WEDDINGS

Tara's personal attention and approachable nature create a setting where you can relax and truly enjoy your very special wedding. In addition to New York and other locations, Tara is also available upon request worldwide. Tara blends traditional techniques with artistry, and classic photojournalism. Her creative eye and attention to detail enable her to capture and record one of the most important days of your lives. Tara’s goal is to capture the feelings and emotions of your wedding day, she blends into the background capturing fleeting moments of your once in a life time event. Tara’s warmth makes couples feel at ease while she is shooting, creating a low-key and laid-back atmosphere, capturing the essence of your event without the photography being obtrusive.

The couple’s personalities, style and taste are always considered in how she shoots the event. Tara incorporates her style with your vision to create images that represent your special day. As an artist and storyteller Tara’s role is to capture details, subtle nuances, and the beautiful details found sprinkled through out your special day. In order to achieve all images for your day Tara request that each couple provide a schedule of the days events so that she can plan the best slots of time for group portraits and for any necessary travel.

Tara’s fine art background has set her apart in the field of photography. Again her attention to detail, that she captures so beautifully in her artwork, are also evident in her timeless images of wedding ceremonies. She works in a documentary style, and is comfortable being surrounded by many people while working in a quick, organized and unobtrusive manner. She creates both elegant black and white, and vibrantly colorful photographs that capture the beauty, emotion and poignancy of the day. Tara looks for spontaneous moments, or something happening that possibly no one would ever see... a young group of flower girls dancing in the grass, or when the bride and groom share a private look or kiss. Tara looks to capture a beautiful still life of the brides bouquet , or the anticipation on the grooms face as he waits for his bride before the ceremony...to preserve those moments that others may not get a glimpse of until they see the wedding album.

Tara travels through out the year to Maui and across the globe. She is very familiar with the Hudson Valley, and Connecticut and familiar with its charm. She would be delighted to hear any inquiries regarding photographing your wedding in these areas and beyond.

PORTRAITS
Before the session, Tara will have a phone consultation to discuss the concept and style of portraits you envision as well as clothing, location and other details. By talking about the session before it happens helps make a successful portrait. It is Tara’s goal to capture the magical moments of your children and family! While on vacation or in the wake of realizing it is due time, that is the perfect time to have a family portrait created. Getting the family together for a photo shoot isn’t always easy but it should be fun. Tara’s relaxed approach to photography and eclectic props and knick knacks she brings along to get children’s attention will spark an interest that distracts from that posed look. There is always a perfect spot for your portraits. Whether you imagine sandy beaches, the park, or maybe just the seclusion of your private bungalow or home…wherever the photo shoot takes place will be a place to remember.

Tips for a successful child, or family photography session or portrait
Schedule your photo session on a day that you or your children will be relaxed and well rested. Find a time that will work well with naps. Babies and toddlers are often at their best right after a nap. Have everyone eat a light snack before the shoot. There is time during the shoot to nurse newborns if they get fussy. Clothing should be a without writing or branding, unless that is the purpose of the shoot. If in doubt, just bring it and we can decide while we are shooting.

Make-up and jewelry are fine, though lots of jewelry can be distracting. But if in doubt just bring it and we can decide when we are shooting.

PREGNANCY PHOTOGRAPHY
Schedule your shoot six to ten weeks before your due date. Of course if you are closer than that, just give Tara a call and she will fit you in. It is a great privilege to be a part of your pregnancy by being allowed to capture beautiful images of your shape. I love being able to provide pictures which maybe one day will be looked at by your child who might say “is that really me in there Mummy?”

How to prepare for a successful maternity photography session
Schedule your photo session on a day that you, your partner, and your children (if they are going to be in the shoot) will be relaxed and well rested. Try not to schedule too many appointments on that day either before or after the shoot.

At least two hours before our shoot, please try to remove anything with elastic such as a tight shirt, pants, underwear or a bra to prevent strap marks from appearing on your skin. Eat a light snack before the shoot.

Make-up should be light and natural looking. A light foundation, blush etc. to even out skin tones is perfect. Too much eyeliner or eye shadow can look very dark on film.

Special jewelry is a nice accessory to the photographs, though too much jewelry can be distracting. If you have any questions, just bring it along. Hair should be fixed so you are comfortable with it. Some mothers prefer to go to a stylist before the shoot; others prefer to fix their hair on their own. Feel free to bring anything that you feel good in or want to be included in the photograph including flowers, or special clothing such as scarves, shawls, veils. If the shoot is in your home, only the family should be present to prevent distractions.

Here’s how it works: All of your images are uploaded into a web hosting site. Tara will provide webcards at your wedding for guests to register to view your event. Once Tara has edited your images, you may further edit the images on the web site or release the event for immediate viewing. Pictage will notify the people on your e-mail list once you release the event. Anyone worldwide may view your personal web site and place orders directly on-line or just view the event. The images from your wedding will be posted to a personal, secure website within 3 months of your wedding and will remain available for 90 days to share with your family and friends.
